AN INTERVIEW WITH TIM PEARCE
LOCAL ENTREPRENEUR AND SPONSOR OF 'VISIT EVESHAM'.
Q. How long have you been running your own business?
I left my job when my youngest child was 6 months old.....that's 5 1/2 years ago now.
Q. You run a successful business today, but how do you stay motivated?
I love business, numbers, facts and figures. I think my job is really interesting and love working with my clients.
Q. Is location important for your business and what made you choose Evesham?
It was simple really. I lived in Evesham and wanted to work closer to home.
Q. Tell us your greatest achievement in business so far?
Merging my business (Focus Accountancy) with the Worcester office of Haines Watts, a national brand and top 15 firm of accountants in February 2015 and becoming Managing Partner of the Worcester and Evesham Offices, looking after 20 members of staff and circa 400 Business Clients.
Q. Tell us your greatest personal achievement so far?
My two sons Sebastian (8) and Isaac (6).
Q. How important to your continued success is your team?
Whoever said there is no I in team was spot on. Any good business person will tell you a good team makes all of the difference and we certainly couldn't support all of our clients without the outstanding team we have developed over the last couple of years.
Q. What has been your biggest challenge so far?
Juggling work and home life. Most business owners will tell you the same thing.
Q. What, if anything, have you had to sacrifice to build your business?
Family time and paid holidays!
Q. How do you relax and take time out?
I like to spend time with my family and friends and when we can we try to get away to Cornwall, no phone reception means I have to relax!
Q. What 3 pieces of advice would you give to anyone starting in business today?
1) get a solid business plan down on paper.
2) do your research and know your market.
3) believe in yourself.
Q. Where do you see yourself and your business 10 years from now?
Still firmly part of Evesham life. My aim is to build the Haines Watts brand throughout the Vale and Worcestershire to become the choice advisor for those seeking accountancy, taxation and business advice. On a personal level I would like to learn to fly a light aircraft.
Q. If you were doing this interview, what question would you ask yourself?
What do you enjoy most about running your own business?.......
I would answer.....
Talking to and helping our clients, doing a good piece of work for a client and getting positive feedback. After all, customers are the key to all businesses and any business is only as good as its last piece of work/product.
Q. And finally, Evesham is clearly very close to your heart, tell us your 3 favourite things about the town?
I am born and bred in Evesham and can not think of anywhere else I would like to bring up my family. My 3 favourite things have to be:
1) Asparagus. During the season I can't get enough of it. They even have a festival now!
2) The River and parks. We are so lucky that we have these facilities on our doorstep.
3) Friends and Family. Without the support of friends and family building a business would be much harder.
Thanks Tim for sharing your thoughts on life and business in Evesham, anything else you would like to add?
Evesham is a great place to live, work and do business. There are some really successful businesses based here and the location has to be one of the main drivers for their success. We have great transport links, have a really good infrastructure such as places like basepoint business centre which encourage the growth of new businesses and the excellent facilities at the local trade parks in and around Evesham provide a great space for businesses to expand.
In addition, the local council have provided a lot of support to new and expanding businesses over the past 12 months or so in the form of grants, advice and support.
“Tim’s input has really helped our business to grow. In making the move from a larger organisation to running your own business, one of the things I really missed was being able to discuss business decisions with the finance team. Tim has been like the FD we don’t have, his advice has been invaluable and he and his team have worked hard with us to take problems away.”

“I Needed an accountant to set up my new business two years ago. From the moment I met Tim Pearce I felt confident that I was being given the best advice possible. Having a tailor made package was essential and having someone that understood my business was of utmost importance. At all times I am able to pick up the phone with any query and my questions are always answered without complicated jargon. I never have to worry about changes in the law and all of my Year end calculations are taken care of removing any worry or burden to myself. Tim has helped me move my business forward in such a positive way that I class him as a member of my team.”
