The theme of this year’s day school is “Ceremony and Splendour”, including a lecture on the blood-spattered subject of the tourney by lecturer, researcher and re-enactor Rob Jones, a pumpkin-juice-spattered living history and combat demonstration by The House of the Twin-Tailed Lion, a look at the nature of royalty by Professor David Carpenter (King’s College, London) and a view of nobility in the Middle Ages in “Splendour and Reality: The Life and Connections of Godfrey Giffard, Bishop of Worcester” by our own Professor Peter Coss.

We are combining popular history, serious history, living history, a smorgasbord of talks, presentations and demonstrations with celebrity lecturers to provide a grand day out for lecturers, teachers, students and people generally interested in the Middle Ages.
We charge £25 for members of the Simon de Montfort Society and £30 for non-members. We have a concessionary rate of £10 for students. Fees include morning and afternoon refreshments and a buffet lunch.
We have aimed for the mix of erudition, education and entertainment that has become the unique selling point of our day schools and lectures.
