Description:
Droitwich’s salt heritage is rooted in its natural brine springs, which have been a valuable resource since Roman times. We begin our exploration of its history along the canals that transported this important commodity before arriving in Vines Park with its informative displays and brine pit. After visiting the town and its Heritage Centre we wander through Lido Park on our way to the Sacred Heart Church, an early 20th century building that belies the breathtaking vision inside – magnificent ecclesiastical mosaics inspired by those in Ravenna and Rome. A representative of the church will give a short talk outlining the background to the design and installation of the mosaics and we’ll have time to look round at our leisure. Our return route is via Hadzor with a coffee stop at Gaudet Luce Golf Club.
